ARSENAL’S youth team look to be mirroring the form of their senior counterparts as they stretched their winning streak to three games on Monday night with a 3-0 victory over Leicester City at Meadow Park.

Striker Eddie Nketiah showed why he’s being tipped as a future star, scoring a hat-trick to move the Under-23s side into fourth place in the Premier League 2 table, seven points off leaders Everton.

The highly-rated 17-year-old was first picked up by Chelsea when he was nine. And after his release in the summer of 2015 Arsenal soon snapped him up.

He signed a pro contract with the club in September following an impressive spell in the Under-18s side, where he scored 24 times in 28 games.

On Monday, Nketiah needed just 15 minutes to open the scoring against Leicester, latching onto a through-ball from Reiss Nelson and curling his shot into the back of net.

His second was a sublime, solo effort as he ran from inside his own half, using skill to fool the opposition all the way to the edge of the box, before firing a low, powerful, shot past Daniel Iversen in the 51st minute.

The Young Gun completed his hat-trick two minutes later when he volleyed home Vlad Dragomir’s cross.

Arsenal’s Under-23s return to action on Monday, December 12, with a testing trip to Liverpool.
