A TEAM of tiny talents from Islington Boxing Club stepped between the ropes on Saturday to show off the skills they have been developing at their club in Hazellville Road, Upper Holloway.

Coaches Tony Lucas, DJ Moore, Troy Smart and Zowie Campbell took the squad of 11 juniors and infants, all aged between six and 13-year-old, to Sittingbourne to take part in exhibition skills contests against boys representing surrounding clubs from Kent, Sussex and Surrey.

After watching the action unfold at Rumbles Boxing Academy, Islington Boxing Club manager Reggie Hagland said: “There were some excellent displays of boxing from our young boys, who were taking part in three one-minute rounds. Hopefully we’ve even got some future national champions in our ranks.

“Our club wants to encourage and take part in more ‘Inter-Club Sparring’ events in the future.

“There were no winners and losers during the event, just excellent boxing. It was a great team-bonding exercise too.”

Among the skilful stars on show were Harry Power, five, O’Shea Campbell and Zachary Tumbridge, both six, Cinnan Campbell, eight, Alfie Power and Alfie Suksiri, both nine, Frankie Watson and Rishon John, both 10, Patrick McDonagh and Archie Lynch, both 11, and Harry Betteridge, 13.
