Songs for Sarahs

Three singing Sarahs are in action at separate concerts next week.

On Saturday, at St Mary’s, Dartmouth Park Hill, soprano Sarah Probert is singing with the Cholmeley Choral Society in performances of Vivaldi’s Gloria, Michael Pretorius’ Dulci Jubilo and choruses from the Messiah.

Also on Saturday, at St Alban the Martyr in Brooke Street, Holborn, top-drawer Swedish soprano Sara Johnnson is joining the Islington Choral Society and Camden Chamber Orchestra in a performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah. Now resident in this country, she’s in great demand as an opera and leider singer.

On Thursday at St Pancras Parish Church, Euston Road, mezzo-soprano Sarah Tyler will be singing in Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols at the church’s weekly free lunch-time concert. She’s a lyric mezzo with wide experience of opera, operetta, oratorio, musical theatre and concert works.

    • On Thursday evening at St Geoge’s Bloomsbury, a carol concert is raising funds for the Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust.
