Don’t withdraw the valued No 13 bus service

    Published: 12 March, 2015

    • I WAS dismayed to learn of Transport for London’s proposal to withdraw the long-standing bus route 13.

I can’t see how they can suggest the route, which has run along Finchley Road for over a century, is no longer required.

Certainly the heavy loadings on both routes 13 and 82 between Finchley Road station and Golders Green at peak times suggest otherwise.

With no changes to the day 82, and an increase on the 113, this is equivalent to a 50 per cent reduction for the many passengers using this vital link between Finchley Road station and Golders Green, where no alternative tube line exists.

TfL’s solution? Extend the 139 to Golders Green over the lightly used roads of Fortune Green.

I’m afraid this whole scheme is a solution to a problem which does not exist.

The TfL consultation on this scheme is open, and available on their website until Friday April 10.
