Fight the hospital cuts

    Published: 26 April, 2012

    • SO the management of the Whittington Hospital have decided that it’s better to be mean and lean, to close two wards, on the advice of not-so-lean private consultants costing £500,000.

This is unjustifiable. When massive health cuts were on the agenda two year ago the people of Camden and Islington took to the streets against the proposed closure of the accident and emergency, paediatrics and maternity departments.

No wonder the morale among staff is now at a low ebb. Defend the Whittington Hospital Coalition are still actively opposing the destruction of the NHS caused by the latest legislation and the massive health cuts brought in by this government.

We urge demoralised hospital staff to join us in opposing these plans which reduce health provision and put private interests before public health.

Chair, Defend the Whittington Hospital Coalition
