THE Hurricanes continue to blow a gale in the Camden Sunday League after increasing their lead at the top of the Division One table at the weekend with a 3-1 victory over Cobden Athletic, writes Steve Barnett.

The early pace-setters shared the goals around at Hackney Marshes with defender Guy Horlock, midfielder Casey O’Brien and striker Simon Lawrence all finding the back of the net.

The result leaves The Hurricanes two points clear of their closest challengers, Crouch End Rangers, having amassed 16 points from their opening seven games.

The stand-out result of the weekend, however, came in Division Two where leaders Philippine FC beat St Peter’s in a 12-goal thriller.

With four goals and an assist, Philippine midfielder Robert DePeazer strolled away with the man-of-the-match award.

St Peter’s took an early lead, but the league leaders responded almost immediately to turn the game around with goals from Jason Arroyo and Graeme Ryan.

DePeazer then got started, grabbing his first goal courtesy of a 20-yard screamer as Philippine ended a thrilling first half 3-2 ahead.

After the break DePeazer scored a second-half hat-trick to take his tally in the match to four, and six for the season in seven appearances.

Midfielder Arroyo also scored again as Philippine FC sealed a staggering 7-4 victory.

DePeazer’s performance on the day was so good he overshadowed St Peter’s striker Daniel Bagguley, who also enjoyed a clinical afternoon as he helped himself to a well-taken hat-trick.
