Green Man nightmare on sportsdesk

THE Green Man certainly left our sportsdesk feeling a little green Monday night when they racked up their first win of the season in the Chalk Farm Pool League.

Just a week after telling readers how the King’s Cross Hurricanes were  unstoppable in Division One and blowing away all their rivals, along come the team of Islington-based potters to make us look silly by beating them 6-3 at their pub in Essex Road, Canonbury.

The doubles pairing of Oz Tatizsou and Cieron Farrelly put the result beyond doubt as they combined to sink the all-important black, while Terry Sharp, Steve McLean, Colin Farrelly, Steve Morris and Tommy Doyle also all pocketed important points for the Green Man.

Despite the defeat, King’s Cross Hurricanes remain top of the Division One table, after the showdown between closest rivals Sir Robert Peel and Boston Arms was postponed until December.

Among the biggest victor’s of the week were Zombies who treated rivals The Eaglet to an early Halloween scare in Division Three by sinking their teeth into a convincing 7-2 victory.

The result leaves runaway Zombies already boasting a nine-point lead at the top of the table and well on their way to resurrecting their Division Two campaign following last season’s relegation to the bottom tier.
