THE season is well under way – and the good news is there’s still plenty of opportunities for young ballers to join the action.

And what’s even more exciting is, they can take part this weekend for free!

We reported last week how the new Camden and Coram’s Fields Youth League had kicked off in Bloomsbury and, as promised, here are the details of the free sessions that arrive with it.

Every Saturday there will be an hour-long training session at Coram’s Fields for seven, eight, and nine year olds between 10am and 11am, while kids aged 10 and 11 get their turn between 11am and midday.

There will also be a 45-minute Little Kickers session for Under-5s starting next Saturday from 9am for just £4, with subsidies available for low-income families.

On Saturday a host of excited teams turned out in WC1 for their first games of the season.

Johnnie Healey had a day he’ll never forget as he scored four goals to help Pro Touch Soccer Academy overcome newcomers Hampstead Hill Wanderers in the Under-9s Division.

Archie O’Brien also scored twice as Pro Touch ran out 6-2 winners.

There were also big cheers in the Under-9s age group for Little Soccer Stars (LSS) Academy, who beat European Football Academy 5-2 in their opening game.

In the Under-11s age group players from Muswell Hill Football Academy ran out 4-0 winners against European Football Academy.

Meanwhile, proving that age is just a number, Camden Elite’s Under-10s won both their friendlies, including one against a team of older players.

Isiah Kinsiona and Orick Mripa scored two goals apiece, while Cameron Ismail and Jerome Richards were also on target as Elite ran out 6-0 winners against St John’s Wood Under-10s.

The free-scoring squad also hit six in their second game – this time against an Under-12s team from Just Play FC. Ismail and Benni Scagliola both bagged a brace, while Richards and Sullivan de Almeida were also on the score-sheet in the 6-0 victory.
