YOUNG Arsenal fan Katie Ley couldn’t hide her smile after getting the chance to spend time with Gunners stars Danny Welbeck and Per Mertesacker.

On Saturday Arsene Wenger and his players all gave a day’s wages to The Arsenal Foundation, which supports young people and adults with disabilities.

Among the projects funded are Act One Arts Base, which host regular adapted dance sessions for people with all disabilities, sensory book organisation Bag Books and relaxation therapy organisation The Stress Project.

Katie’s father, John, said: “If it wasn’t for The Arsenal Foundation, Act One Arts Base would not be here now. The Arsenal Foundation makes such a big difference to so many people.

“It’s not just about the donations or money, it’s the special days, events, and the opportunities to meet the players too.

“I never thought that I’d see my daughter doing yoga with Per Mertesacker and reading with Danny Welbeck. It’s incredible.”
